Kamala Diefenthaler is a mom of 4, a PhD in Applied Mathematics, and is on track to receive her certification as a Charlotte Mason teacher and school leader. Catherine Knight met her husband, Bryan, while studying biology at Georgia Tech. She worked in stream ecology, specifically pollution detection and remediation in Georgia And North Carolina before moving to where the water freezes every winter.
She randomly came across a blip about Charlotte Mason fifteen years before she had children and has been entranced with Mason’s method’s beauty and completeness ever since.
She has two daughters , headed into 6th and 3rd grades in 2024/25. They have been home educated with Miss Mason’s principles since the beginning.
Kamala's journey to founding Faithful Harvest Learning Community began with a deep and prayerful reflection on life beyond the baby phase. Through God's guidance, she found herself in a leadership role within a non-profit organization, where she honed her professional skills and cultivated the confidence needed to pursue her dream of school leadership.
Despite her experience and passion, Kamala found herself searching for a curriculum that aligned with her vision for education. It wasn't until she discovered Charlotte Mason's philosophy of teaching that everything fell into place. Here was a comprehensive approach that encompassed a wide range of subjects, from the Bible and nature to great literature, art, music, and even foreign language studies. This holistic educational philosophy resonated deeply with Kamala, providing the foundation she needed to pursue her dream of true learning community.
Since that pivotal moment, Kamala has been dedicated to continuous learning, growth, and meticulous planning as she nurtures her vision for a school that embraces the principles of Charlotte Mason while fostering a vibrant community of lifelong learners at Faithful Harvest.
“Thought breeds thought; children familiar with great thoughts take as naturally to thinking for themselves as the well-nourished body takes to growing; and we must bear in mind that growth, physical, intellectual, moral, spiritual, is the sole end of education.”
